Yacht Charter Nyborg

Nyborg, a Danish seaport on the eastcoast of Fünen, is easy to access from the south of the Belt Bridge. 700 years of history make this town one of the oldest in Denmark.

After the discontinuation of the ferry traffic new moorings for sports boats were added. The short distance between the harbour and the centre of the city make this marina to be a favourable destination for sailors on their yachtcharter in the Danish South Sea. During the last few years this harbour grew to be a high-end marina with its modern port facilities and good service facilities with a total of 620 moorings. That makes Nyborg a great place to stop on your way to the Danish South Sea.

The town of Nyborg is situated in the Nyborg Fjord which should rather be called bay. This fjord is actually an "arm" that stretches to the northwest for about two sea miles. The town itself ist steeped in history because during the Early Middle Ages it used to be an imperial capital. For the first time in 1282 the Danehof, which can be compared to the Reichstag, was held and during which the king met with the nobility and the chaplains each year. This is where the constitution was ruled. Nowadays the harbour of Nyborg is rather calm due to the discontinuation of the ferry traffic.

Besides the interesting city centre it is worth to visit the castle of Nyborg and the local museum. In the west of the town you can find a fortress which was founded in 1170. This fortress was turned into a fortified castle in the beginning of the 13th century. You can marvel on the kings palace as well as the town hall in which the Danehof met. During 1658 and 1660 the castle and the whole town was captured and utterly devastated. The castle was restored in the beginning of the 20th century.

Besides this place full of history you can visit a church called Vor Frue Kirkre (which means Church of Our Lady) as well as the Korsbrodregard which Karl Gustav of Sweden once visited. Another place of interest is Denmarks longest gate with a length of 40 meters. After all these cultural attractions you can continue your yachtcharter trip to the south towards the Svendborg Sound and the Danish South Sea or to the north towards the archipelago of the Kattegatt.

The next harbour on your way round Fünen might be Korshavn in the north or even Bogense.
