high quality sails

For many ships we purchased special sails which are standard equipment due to our high standards or can be booked as an extra. We chose for the radial Hydranet , as it has really great features. The sail cloth manufacturer POLYANT writes: Hydra Net ® radial has a high proportion of Dyneema ® - fibers in the warp direction is particularly tightly woven and dimensionally stable and has a pleasant soft grip . The realization of difficult design parameters that were previously run only with laminate cloths is possible with Hydra Net ® radial tissues. The Hydra Net ® radial line includes several styles that can be combined for step- down constructions. Which means that there are very rigid sails that keep their top profile over a long period.salona hydranet segel
These sails we have standard on board of the X -412 4 cabins , the Salona 37, X -332 , Salona 45, X - 442 and the Dufour 44.
Some boats we have equipped with SQUARE ® cloth. SQUARE ® fabrics are designed for high performance sails. This premium polyester constructions are used instead of traditional taffeta , except when improved warp and weft strength even better stability is different from the desired direct thread direction . SQUARE ® fabrics are unique in many ways. For highly demanding sailors we have fore sails from D 4. D4 ® is a product of DIMENSION POLYANT for project- based manufactured sail. Unlike rolled goods which is stock for the most part , D4 ® is manufactured according to the design of the sail maker . The production of a D4 cloth is very expensive. The production starts with flat sections of film or film / taffeta tracks. Then the yarns are laid by an X / Y plotter. This can be done in several layers depending on the complexity of the design. Another layer of film strips/ taffeta is placed thereon . The bonding of films and fibers is the same as using rolls under very high pressure and controlled heat. After curing the sections are placed on a large x-y plotter where the panel edge shaping including luff, leech and foot curves are drawn. Now the sailmaker add the sections together to form a complete membrane and then the sail is ready. Only our yachts have so elaborate sails - just real-sailing ..
